CAIRO: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi inaugurated Sunday 39 new development projects worth 5.9 billion EGP ($800 million,) jointly implemented by the armed forces and the government, Youm7 reported.
Since the projects were carried out in different governorates, the inauguration took place remotely via video conference.
While witnessing the opening of the projects, Sisi blamed the government for failure in developing some sectors. He also criticized the government’s late performance in achieving the drilling of 4,000 groundwater wells used in irrigation for a 4-million-acres land reclamation project.

Sisi demanded the Administrative Supervisory Authority to form a committee to evaluate all state projects being implemented and ensure its technical validity, economic efficiency and allocated budgets before submission.
The Engineering Authority for armed forces is scheduled to finalize some 1,400 projects including the creation of new roads by August 6, 2015, according to a presidency statement.

Projects inaugurated Sunday were in fields of transport, agriculture, sports and youth, water resources and irrigation. They also included the establishment of two centers for tumor treatment in Suez and Beni Suef governorates, to serve both civilians and military personnel.
Three water desalination plants were opened in Marsa Matrouh governorate. Also, storehouses for agricultural crops were built in Gharbiya and Beni Suef governorates as part of some 73 built in 17 governorates with a storage capacity reaches 8,000 tons of crops.
Sisi gave the green light to other projects including bridges and the widening of roads linking Suez Canal governorates with Sinai, the Delta and Cairo. These projects are part of a governmental plan to ease traffic congestion across the country.
