CAIRO: A security guard at the Principal Bank for Development and Agricultural Credit (PBDAC) was killed Thursday after unidentified assailants opened fire at a bank’s branch in the Fayoum governorate, 110 kilometers southwest of Cairo, Youm7 reported.
The assailants fled the scene while police started investigating into the incident.
On Thursday morning, an armored vehicle was attacked by unknown assailants in Beni Suef governorate, 124 kilometers south of Cairo. No casualties were reported.
The two incidents coincide with simultaneous militant attacks against military and police personnel in North Sinai.
Confrontations broke out Wednesday between the Egyptian armed forces and militants in North Sinai; Islamic State (IS) group claimed its responsibility for a series of attacks. More than 100 “terrorists” and 17 military soldiers have been killed, according to the military spokesperson’s statement.
